Confession time: I get the Monday Scaries. Like, for real. Sunday rolls in and—boom—so does the anxiety. I feel dread creeping in, that heavy “ugh” feeling knowing the hustle is about to start again. Honestly, it’s made it hard to enjoy Sundays at all.

I recently noticed one of my daughters picking up on that same energy. She’s a little quieter, more restless, and that got me thinking. How can we combat these feelings together, without losing our peace?

🌿 My Sunday Reset Ritual: Realistic but Calming

I don’t go full “Pinterest mom” on Sundays. The vibe I aim for is low-stress but prepared. I try to calm the chaos with a few simple things that help my Monday feel like less of a freight train:

🧺 1. Light Prep, Not Perfection

I prep just enough. That means:

  • Outfits laid out ✅
  • School and work lunches ready-ish ✅
  • A quick look at Monday’s schedule so no one gets blindsided ✅

I’m not planning a packed Sunday to-do list. I’m setting us up gently for a smoother Monday.

💪 2. No Major Workouts, Just Movement

No intense workouts for me on Mondays. I don’t even schedule one. Instead, I pick 1 or 2 gentle movement options from my Movement Planner (Psst.. grab it in my Freebie Library!) and call it a win if I do one.

A short walk? Stretching in my PJs? Done and done.

🥪 3. Easy Monday Meals Only

I do not attempt a gourmet dinner. Monday meals are all about ease:

  • Leftovers? Perfect.
  • PB&J? Even better.
  • A freezer meal or microwave burrito? Yes, please.

No shame. No stress. Bonus: clean-up takes 5 minutes.

🧹 4. Mini Clean, Not Deep Clean

Think:

  • Quick decluttering
  • Dusting surfaces
  • A quick check-in on the laundry pile

Unless there’s a spill or surprise mess (hello, kid life), I’m not doing a deep clean. My kids each get a mini task too. We’re all easing into the week.

🧠 5. Mentally Prepare—but Be Kind to Yourself

Sometimes, the plan still goes out the window. Mondays can bring tough stuff, unexpected work stress, school issues, and emotional overwhelm. But here’s what I remind myself (and now my kids):

We can’t always control what happens out there—but we can plan for peace in here.

We come home to a safe space. And even if the day gets messy, that matters. A lot.
