Summer is officially here and as a teacher, that means I’m off for two months. Cue the relaxing music and iced coffee, right?

…Wrong.

Because while I may not be in a classroom, the chaos has just shifted forms. As a realtor, summer is busy season, and as a mom of three (including tween twins!), the schedule is stacked. So, I sat down, planner in one hand, iced matcha in the other, and crafted a summer plan that’s fun-filled, budget-conscious, and not too overwhelming… but let’s be real: it’s still going to be a little overwhelming.

Let me walk you through it:

👧🏼👧🏻 Camps, Camps, and More Camps

  • STEAM Camp for the twins – science, tech, and something to do every morning ✔️
  • Art Camp – because one twin is artsy and needs her own thing
  • Summer Day Camp for my 8-year-old – energy management strategy, also known as “please don’t destroy the house”
  • Scout Camp in South Dakota – a rare full family event, outdoorsy vibes pending

These camps are amazing, but organizing them was basically a full-time job in itself. I now understand why moms start planning summer in February.

🏠 Realtor Life Never Stops

With more families moving in the summer, my real estate side of life is heating up. That means showings, follow-ups, networking, and always keeping my phone close. I’ve made peace with working from the car between drop-offs. Shout out to this affordable car mount for my phone, it keeps my phone visible… because I have been known to lose my phone in my van and in my purse.

🥗 Don’t Forget the Budget… or the Broccoli

I’m really trying to stick to a budget-friendly summer, and that means:

  • Meal planning every Sunday (Check out my Meal Prep Posts Here)
  • Batch cooking 2–3 times a week
  • Bringing snacks to camps instead of buying $5 smoothies on the go

We’re using this snack container set that’s budget-friendly and kid-proof (read: it survives being dropped on the floor at least once a day).

Plus, I’m making space for workouts at home, even if it’s just 20 minutes in the living room while the kids are reading.

Planner, pen, notebooks

📚 Summer Learning & Sanity Goals

Because I can’t help myself:

  • Twin B is brushing up on math (she’ll thank me later…maybe)
  • My son has a summer reading project I don’t want to scramble to finish in August
  • We’re limiting screen time (trying, anyway)
  • And yes, I want the kids to still have fun

I wrote it all down: planner, wall calendar, digital calendar. If it’s not written down, it doesn’t exist.

🛋️ Totally Relaxing, Right?

So this summer, you can find me “relaxing” on the couch surrounded by camp paperwork, showing appointments, and meal plans. But hey, I’m doing it. One sticky note, snack bag, and deep breath at a time.

To every working mom out there planning a not-too-busy-but-still-busy summer, I see you. And we’re going to make it.
